Local vendor Chan received top accolades from our Singapore tour guides for the best street food in Singapore in 2018, for his Hong Kong-style roasted pork recipe.
If you’ve ever been to a hawker centre or food centre in Singapore (basically a building filled with food stalls), you know the experience can feel overwhelming, especially when it comes to choosing what to eat — there’s so much to choose from (side note: bring your appetite to Singapore). If you find yourself at Maxwell Market, a popular spot among both locals and visitors, pay a visit to Chan.
Chan has been serving up succulent Hong Kong-style roasted pork at Maxwell Market for 10 years. Every day he gets up at 6am to start marinating the meat, which he then lets hang dry for two hours. The meat then gets roasted for an hour until perfectly crispy. Simply served with rice, customers line up for the popular dish, the popularity of which Chan attributes to how much love goes into his signature recipe.
