In NYC, we’re famous for always being on the go. You’ll often see people eating on the subway or while walking down the sidewalk — since we literally don’t have enough time to sit. So who better than us to recommend some restaurant free, on-the-go food options?! We want you to do your best to cram in as many amazing things that our city has to offer as you can.

Of course, the New York City hot dog cart is iconic (and they’re pretty good too!), and a falafel or lamb over rice at the Halal carts for $4 can’t be beat, but lately there’s been a wave of gourmet food trucks that you won’t want to miss.

Wafels & Dinges

(Now with a brick and mortar shop in the East Village.) One of the easiest trucks to find and boasting one of the most authentic Belgian waffles you’re going to find in NYC (and we have a Belgian-born guide, so we can confirm!). You can choose from a variety of toppings, including the traditional spekulos spread, with a taste like gingerbread and a texture like peanut butter. Drooling yet?

Dub Pies

Here you’ll find handmade Australian/New Zealand-style gourmet meat pies. Choose savoury (steak and cheese, Thai chicken curry, or a breakfast pie) or sweet (peaches and cream, apple pie).

Luke’s Lobster

One of the first mobile kitchens in the city, Luke’s might not be a cheap option, but it’s certainly a luxurious meal on the go.

Cinnamon Snail

The 2014 Vendy Cup Winner (NYC’s awards for food trucks) makes a delicious organic and vegan sandwich, as well as some amazing pancakes, with blue corn and fresh fig options, both with pine nut butter and Vermont or chamomile blood orange syrup.

Snowday

Another Vendy Award Winner (“Rookie of the Year”), this truck serves up French-Canadian, maple syrup-inspired food — like a maple syrup grilled cheese. Oh, hello.

Korilla BBQ

Korean tacos prepared and served from a tiger-striped truck. Need we say more?
